Wressle Oil Community Fund

A community fund was launched in Broughton to support local charities and community organisations.

Egdon Resources and partners who operate the Wressle oil site, has teamed up with Broughton Community and Sports Association (BCSA) who will run the fund on behalf of the company and its partners in the Wressle site.

The Wressle Community Oil Funds aims to pump considerable funding into local community initiatives whilst the nearby well site operates. The site is forecast to last for up to 15 years and see’s around £100,000 [per year committed to the fund.

Egdon’s managing director Mark Abbot said:

“The Egdon team and our partner companies, Union Jack Oil and Europa Oil and Gas, are looking forward to working with the BCSA which, as an established local charity, has the existing infrastructure to get funds to where they are needed.

“The fund is designed to make a positive difference to Broughton and its residents. We would encourage local groups to get their bids in!”

A change to the fund

It was decided by the committee that in 2025, after two years of funding solely to the parish of Broughton, the January – April 2025 funding window would extend the reach of the fund to community groups located 6 miles outside of Broughton that operate for the benefit of Broughton People.

Groups must not have a conflict of interest with existing groups already in the Broughton Parish and must adhere to all the existing requirements of the fund.

It is our hope that this will enable us to reach other worthy charitable causes in desperate need of funding that enrich and support the lives of the residents of the Broughton Parish.
